Veterans Day / NO SCHOOL

Friday, November 8th

*NO SCHOOL MONDAY in observance of Veterans Day!  To our Staff member Veterans, THANK YOU for your service!!

*The SMS Food Drive competition is in full swing! Over the weekend, you'll find some great deals at Hannaford and Shaw's for things like mashed potatoes, soup, cranberry sauce and more. Your teachers have a flyer with the most needed items! Ask them what we're looking for. Lets get some more food in those boxes for Monday!

*It’s the last day of Red Ribbon Week and we want to thank you for your participation in supporting healthy, drug free lifestyles. We hope you’ve really thought about the meaning of this year’s theme: BE KIND TO YOUR MIND LIVE DRUG FREE – and how making healthy choices will help you achieve your goals in life

*The book fair is here.  It will officially open Friday morning but can be available for browsing after 11:15 today.  It will also be open during conference nights.  Please be aware that the best time to shop is first thing in the morning after checking in with your homeroom teacher and also during Spartan time.  It will be closed while Mrs. Williams is teaching which is 8:20 - 11:05 every day.  Please know of how much money you have and that there is tax. Happy shopping.

*Good morning from you SMS Civil Rights Team! Today is the state wide Day of Welcome here in Maine! Today is a day to think and talk about how we can make everyone in our SMS community feel safe, respected, and welcome including all races and skin colors, national origins and ancestries, religions, disabilities and genders.  Did you know that there are over 13 different home languages spoken in our SMS community? HOW COOL IS THAT?! Civil Rights Team would like you to use this day to celebrate our diversity and remember that we are all Spartans! We would like to leave you with a Maya Angelou quote  "In diversity there is beauty and there is strength.”

*This morning 7th and 8th graders will be attending a special assembly with Rob Holla in the gym.  Please wait for the announcement to come down.

*Pokemon Club will take place in the Multi-purpose room after school.

*The First yearbook meeting will be next Tuesday in room 2233  2:30pm to 3pm.
