SJHS's 5th graders recently had the opportunity to conduct research at the Gulf of Maine Research Institute in Portland. They learned about Maine's waters and why it's important that marine biologists study things such as water temperature and sea life (native and non-native) and how changes in these can impact the waters, the fishing industry and the future of Maine's residents.
Corporate sponsors provide funds for students to take this trip at no cost to families nor the district! Students were treated to riding on a coach-style bus to and from the facility, making this a most memorable field trip!
