Today is a WHITE Day!
*Today is 8th grade Junior Achievement Day! We will have volunteers in the building from local businesses across town to help out today!
*Sanford Middle School’s Civil Rights Team would like to recognize today as International Women’s Day. This special day started back in 1908 and is a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women worldwide. Did you know that since the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan girls are not allowed to go to school and women are losing jobs they held in government?
Did you know that in the USA, on average, women make 82% of what men make for similar work. International Women’s Day is a tradition in many countries across the world, and in some, men and children honor their wives, girlfriends, mothers, grandmothers, colleagues, and friends with flowers and small gifts! Let’s all show the women in our lives a little extra care and compassion today!
*Staff and students just a reminder that there should be nothing taped or pinned to the walls throughout the building! There are bulletin boards in each hallway to use.
*Today is a 6th grade lesson day. Please check the google classroom for times. The last District Festival lesson will be at block 3 today.
*Please help bring Gordon Korman to our school in May, participate in the Read-a-Thon. So far Mrs. Wilson is in the lead for 5th grade, Mrs. Crabtree and Mr. Pyle are tied for 7th grade, Mrs. White is in the lead for 8th. And still waiting on some 6th graders.
*Sanford's Got Talent 2023 is on Friday at 4:30pm in the SMS cafe!! Students, families, and staff and welcome to attend. Admission is $5. There will also be concessions and raffles!! We have an incredible show this year!!
Dress rehearsals continue today and will be held from 1:30pm - 3:45 pm in the SMS cafe. We will begin promptly at 1:30. Please arrive fully prepared to go on stage!
*The student leadership team is selling VIP tickets for the Spring Fling dance on March 24. Look for the VIP ticket booth near the front office the week of March 6th through the 10th. The VIP tickets are $8 and there are only 35 so get them while you can. Regular tickets will be sold at the door for $5. We hope to see you there!
*Art Club will meet after school tomorrow until 3:30. Please arrange for transportation before attending.
