From the Library:
It has been a very busy in the library this fall. Students in grades 1-4 were able to start taking out books, many brand new ones included, right on the first day of school. Our kindergarten friends learned about book care for the first few weeks and started taking books home in October. In order to help students practice responsibility and return books on time a “Reminder Library” was created this year with donated books and ones no longer used in the regular collection. Students who forget library books on their library day can choose a book from the “Reminder Library” and bring home a note to help students find the books that need to be returned. It has helped many students find those forgotten library books. The week of Parent/Teacher conferences the library hosted our first Scholastic Book Fair since 2019! We had a great turnout and it was wonderful to see so many students be able to buy books and other items to keep.

We've had a great musical beginning to our school year! Most recently, the 4th Grade Chorus dedicated a performance to our veterans. To listen to their song, click here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PRVMpvkHas

From Health: https://drive.google.com/file/... My priority for health class this year was for the students to not only learn the valuable lessons that the subject has to offer, but also enjoy themselves while doing it. All students from kindergarten to grade 4 just finished learning the correct names of our body parts, both public and private. Currently, the 1st and 2nd graders have started learning about healthy decisions when it comes to medicine, and medicine safety. The 3rd and 4th graders are currently busy exploring the roles, and placements of the major organs in the human body by eventually creating life size paper diagrams of their own bodies. This will lead us into exploring how illegal and legal substances damage those major organs and create unhealthy outcomes. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about the contest or Health class, please contact Ms. Smye at asmye@sanford.org for more information.
