First Grade News

What Mrs. Greve's class is up to:

Every morning in our first grade classroom students complete a journal entry with a starter sentence that is given to them.  Recently, one of the journal prompts was…IF  you were the principal, what would you do?

These were the responses of 1st graders…We are SO proud of our 1st graders thoughts and writing ability! Some students' answers were duplicated, as they generated a discussion amongst themselves.

“No more masks.”

“Extra recess for everyone.”

“Pizza for lunch everyday.”

“I would sell things and get  money for our school and buy stuff for school.”

“PJ day everyday.”

“Library all day long.”

“Playdough whenever we want.

“Run around in the gym all the time.”

“Crafting after we do work.”

“Bring our pets to school.”

What Mrs. Payeur's class is up to:

Mrs. Payeur's first graders have launched their units on non-fiction in reading and writing. To kick-off this work they read a nonfiction book about worms, learning many new facts from close-up pictures, labels, and a picture glossary. To celebrate their work with worms, they made worm habitats, or dirt cups out of pudding, crushed oreo's, and gummy worms. It's safe to say they are enjoying their work so far!

What Mrs. Grass's class is up to:

In my classroom we have just finished our polished small-moments stories. The kids were able to become true authors and work on editing their writing and illustrations. They have created published pieces they are very proud of which are available in our classroom library to read!
