News from Title 1 Math

Title I Math at Willard School
I would like to extend a huge thank you to the families that I worked with over our
distance learning these past two weeks. While our schedules and locations were
different than usual, I was pleased to see most students on a regular basis. Students
engaged in math through a variety of options;
-Zoom sessions.
-Seesaw activities aligned with intervention goals.
-Moby Max lessons and practice activities.
Math can become a part of your daily routines at home. At the first and second grade
level games and counting can improve number sense and fluency. Counting forward
and backward is a skill that requires practice, but is easy to incorporate at home. Third
and fourth graders can benefit from the real life computation that we do on a daily
basis. Ask your child how many Pop Tarts come in a box, if it has 4 packs of 2 in each
box. Or, if dinner needs to be ready at 6:00, and it takes 40 minutes to cook, what time
should we put it in the oven? Math problem solving can be simple and interactive.
Yahtzee, Monopoly, Rummy and Blokus are also a fun way to support your student.
Get a deck of cards, take out one card for each of the following digits. Have fun
problem solving!
