On Tuesday, March 7th, Mr. Day’s Self Contained classroom had
the opportunity to make Glow Dough. This involved using
chemistry which is a branch of science that uses the properties
of matter, (solids, liquids, and gases) and the interactions in our
everyday lives. In this experiment students explored properties of
matter mixing solids and liquids to create moldable fun. Their
instructor was Pride substitute teacher and scientist Judy Gibbs.
Mrs. Gibbs is a member of the staff in Mr. Day’s room. Mrs.
Gibbs brought in all the ingredients as well as equipment that our
little scientists would need. The students simulated working
under lab conditions. For example, all students wore safety
glasses as they would during an experiment in any laboratory.
The students mixed dry ingredients in their own little containers
and then they had to carefully mix in water. Then glow crystals
were added last. All students had a great time learning about lab
experiments.
We are very fortunate to have Mrs Gibbs in our classroom. She
is a wealth of information and has a special relationship with
each our students. Next up Crystals
