1st grade students practicing their reading to Rasheed the Lion.

Mrs. Morrison ha shared that first graders have been hard at work, using all the time they have together to grow and learn. In reading workshop, students have been focusing on scooping up their words as they read to make themselves sound fluent. We have also been working on persistence power and have been using multiple strategies to solve tricky words. Students have been working with their partners to share what strategies they have been utilizing and sharing their love of reading.

Rasheed has been keeping a close eye on us as we learn new snap words every day. As phonics professors, we have been studying our new words and word wall. We have been looking at blends, digraphs, word patterns, vowels, and consonants. Remind your child that they can make ANY word a snap word if they just study it! ~ Mrs. Morrison, Teacher of 1st graders
