Roisin McGuckin named Assistant Principal at Margaret Chase Smith Elementary School

SANFORD, Maine – The Sanford School Department proudly announces that Roisin McGuckin has been appointed as the new Assistant Principal at Margaret Chase Smith.

McGuckin is replacing Marc Bisson, who accepted a Principal position in Westbrook. McGuckin was previously a 4th Grade Teacher at Carl J. Lamb Elementary School.

"Roisin is a skilled educator with over twenty years of experience impacting children, educators, and the Sanford Community," Superintendent Matt Nelson said. "She is an educational leader who prioritizes strong relationships with students, staff, and families. She commits to high-quality reflective teaching practices and a warm and welcoming school community that instills confidence in students and prepares them for lifelong learning."

“I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve the families of Sanford in this new role,” McGuckin said. “I am very excited to work with Mrs. Hallissey and the dynamic team of educators at Margaret Chase Smith.”

"I am confident that Roisin's skills and dedication, along with her passion for students, will greatly contribute to our school community," Margaret Chase Smith Principal Tracie Hallisey said. "Roisin shares our commitment to providing an inclusive and engaging learning environment for all of our Pre-K through 4th-grade learners."
