Sanford School Department

On May 22nd Margaret Chase Smith's third graders performed for their end of the music concert.  What made this year's concert special was where it was performed.  Ms. Hastings, our music teacher, arranged to have our concert take place at the new Performing Arts Center at the Sanford High School.  With controlled lighting that changed with the songs; a large stage; a sound system that highlighted the children's singing; and comfortable seating for the audience all gave the feeling that this was a professional performance.  Our third graders sang several songs, then demonstrated their ability to read music by playing songs on their recorders while reading the sheet music that was projected onto a screen.  Their performance ended with the students singing the Margaret chase Smith Song.  As Ms. Hastings shared we will need to wait until the 20-21 school year to hear our students sing our school song again.
