Good morning everyone! Today marks the 111th International Women's Day. According the International Women's Day Website, March 8 is a day designated to "celebrate women's achievements, raise awareness about women's equality, lobby for accelerated gender parity (which is the equal contribution of women and meant in all aspects of life), and fundraise for female-focused charities." Each year since 1996, the United Nations designates a theme, and "The campaign theme for International Women's Day 2022 is #BreakTheBias. Whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult for women to move ahead. Knowing that bias exists isn't enough. Action is needed to level the playing field." The Civil Rights Team invites you to help us #BreakTheBias by taking a selfie with your arms crossed in an "X" and post it to your social media account to show your solidarity.

Please click on the link below and fill out the online 2022 General Scholarship Application. Every graduating senior, early grads and 3-year grads who plan on attending a college or university, or technical school may fill out this form. You must attach your college acceptance letter, fafsa and financial aid information (EFC) with this application no later than Friday, April 8, 2022 via the online form or hand it into the Principal’s Office by the deadline date.

Staff and Students: Do you have a talent that you would like to showcase? Whether it be singing, dancing, comedy, magic, working a yo-yo, or a hidden talent! The National Honor Society is thrilled to be bringing back the Variety Show to SHS on April 7! All are welcome to audition! We are looking for solo and group acts. Auditions will be held in the chorus room, Tuesday, March 8th at 2:30 and Thursday, March 10th from 2:30-3:30 & 5:30-6:30! Please encourage your friends to try out! This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate SHS students AND teachers and their special talents. If you are interested, please fill out this form! Cost is $65 per ticket or a pair for $120
Finger food type appetizers will be available along with soda and water. Frannie's Donuts is providing our desserts!!
A photo booth will be available from 7-9 for students to have small group photos taken and printed as a keepsake of the event. (no charge)
Professional photographer will be available from 6-7 if you wish to have formal photos taken along the river before entering. Forms for this will be available closer to the event.
Masking for this event will follow the SHS school policies.
Guests must complete an “SHS Prom Guest Application.” This application can be obtained from the Asst. Principals office or at the time of ticket purchase. Guests will be admitted to Prom only if their names appear on a pre-approved guest list and are accompanied by the sponsoring student. The guest must also be a high school student in good standing. Guests who’ve graduated must be under 21 and have a clean record. Picture ID is required for all non SHS students attending the event. Tickets go on sale the week of March 14th during lunches on TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS. Cash, Check or Venmo are accepted.
Muffins are in the store!!!! Lots of variety, you’re sure to find a favorite. All are .50.Get them before they are gone.

Spring sports registration is open. Any student planning to participate in a Spring sport please sign up on Family ID. Immediately. This can be found on the athletic webpage at Sanford.org

Environmental Club meets Tuesdays @ 7:20am in Ms. Trafelet’s room E222. We have several projects we will be working on this year. Come join us and help make a positive impact on our planet. All are welcome!!

Civil Rights Team meets Tuesdays after school, in the library or Zoom. We will also be meeting every other Friday during Spartan Time! New members are always welcome.
Art club meets every Thursday in room B127 with Mrs. Gillis from 2:20-3:30. All are welcome!
Pep Club meets on Tuesdays after school in room C224 to discuss Homecoming, New Goals and a Great Year!
Key Club will start meeting Monday nights at 6:30 on the agora stairs. Key Club is the best way to fulfill community service requirements and have a great time with friends at the same time!
SHS Peer Helpers meet every Friday morning in the small cafeteria at SHS. Meetings begin at 7:30 or if you are a bus student stop by when your bus arrives at school. New student tours, Thanksgiving baskets, #thisisus are all part of what SHS Peer Helpers are involved in.
