Press Release – MPA Principal’s Award

3/30/21

Samantha K. Hebert of Sanford, Maine, a senior at Sanford High School, has been selected to receive the 2021 Principal's Award, Principal Matthew Petermann announced today. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals' Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior's academic excellence, outstanding school citizenship, and leadership.

“Samantha is a great example of a student who never quits when times get rough. Her perseverance and persistence will serve her well in the future. Even with the mask, she is always smiling,” according to Principal Petermann. “She is a positive role model for our students.”

The MPA Honors Luncheon is typically held each year in the Bangor area to honor the outstanding high school senior from each MPA member school. Each year, most public and private high schools participate in the Principal's Award Program. It is truly one of the more memorable events the MPA sponsors during the year. The criteria for this award are academic excellence, outstanding school citizenship, and leadership. Each school is to define and interpret these criteria in its own school setting.

Each principal who recognizes a senior for this distinct honor as well as the award recipient are then invited to participate in the Principal’s Award LIVE Virtual Scholarship Drawing Event on Friday, May 14, at 1:00 p.m. Drawings will be held for ten $1,000 scholarships. The student does not need to be present to be eligible for drawings.

Congratulations Samantha!
