Happy Black History Month!

It is Winter Carnival Week!  Dig through those closets and represent your class whether in person or on Zoom! The winning class for each day will receive $25.

Thursday, February 11: Class Color Day: (Seniors-Green, Juniors-Pink, Sophomores-Blue, Freshmen-Brown)

Friday, February 12: Red and White Day

There is a Basic First Aid Seminar that will be held on Saturday, February 20th from 10-11:30 AM at the Acton Public Library free of charge. Participants will be asked to wear a mask and will be social distanced because this space is limited. SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

 

Art club will be held every Thursday in room B 127 with Mrs. Gillis from 2:20-3:30. Please contact Mrs. Gillis if you will be joining via Zoom. All are welcome!

 

SHS Theater Club is putting on a spring production tentatively called "Best of Broadway".  We are looking for students who would like to sing/perform Broadway Hits either individually or in small groups.  Audition packets are available now & are due back by 2/12.  Contact  Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Kirton or Mr. Williams  for information.

 

 Winter Indoor Percussion began in person rehearsals this week. We will meet every Monday and Thursday 4pm-6:30pm. We would love to have a few more musicians join us so if you can read music and you like to hit things, give Ms. Scarano an email at escarano@sanford.org to see if indoor percussion is right for you!

 

Winter Guard is meeting every Tuesday and Friday 5pm-8pm. Winter Guard incorporates dancing with spinning flags and wooden rifles in a gym! If this is something you think you might be interested in joining, please email Ms. Scarano at escarano@sanford.org to see if winter guard is right for you!

 

Jazz band is meeting every Tuesday and Thursday after school from 2:30-3:30! We have PPE for wind players but we are also in need of a bass player and a guitar player, so if you can read lead sheets, chords, and/or music and you are interested, please email Ms. Scarano at escarano@sanford.org

 

The health and fitness club is open Monday Tuesday Thursday and Friday by appointment. Send an email to Kway@sanford.org to set an appointment!

Environmental club has started back up again this year!  Please email Ms. West (vwest@sanford.org) with any questions. Our meetings are on Tuesdays at 7:20am in room E222 for students that are physically in the building and via zoom for students that are home.  Join us to help with our mission for this year - bringing solar energy to SHS! 

Peer Helpers meet on Thursdays (2nd and 4th week of the month) and on Fridays the 1 and 3rd week of the month in the small cafe at 7:20 am (or as soon as you get to school). Thanksgiving baskets, Holiday flash mobs and much much more!  To get reminders about club meetings please text @bletou to the number 81010 and join Remind!

GSTA will meet Wednesdays @ 12:15 via Zoom. Current members and prospective members are encouraged to attend. 

Students, do you think that school should be a place where everyone feels safe, welcome, and respected for who they are? Then the Sanford High School Civil Rights Team is looking for you! We are here to engage everyone in the school community to have conversations about race and skin color, national origin and ancestry, religion, disabilities, gender identity and expression, and sexual orientation in order to make school a safe, welcoming, and respectful space for everyone through different projects throughout the year. Ocean Bowl is a competition amongst different schools in New England to see who knows the most about our Oceans! Don't be intimidated by competition though, we have a great time in our meetings and at the competition! If you have any questions please email 21shannanh@gapps.sanford.org, or bmarass@sanford.org. Otherwise, fill out this registration form so we can contact you easier, and know who's joining us! We will be meeting virtually on Wednesdays at 10:00am!
