Book club will be starting two new books on January 29th! (You get to choose which one you'd like to read, you don't have to read two.) We will be reading Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen, or Shadow and Bone, by Leigh Bardugo.  For descriptions of both, go here.  Book club meets every Thursday during Spartan Time.  New members are welcome. Please feel free to see or email Mrs. Raymond by Tuesday, 1/20, if you are interested. 

 

York County Audubon is again offering a scholarship for a one-week program for Educators this summer on famed Hog Island off the mid-coast of Maine.  A flyer with additional information can be grabbed in A237.  The program is entitled "Sharing Nature: An Educator's Week," and runs from August 9th - 14th.  National Audubon Society has been offering the Educator's Week program each summer since 1936!   Complete information is also available through our website at www.yorkcountyaudubon.org/scholarships

 

The Sanford High School Band will be hosting a Crafting benefit here at the high school on January 24th from 8-4:30. The cost is $38 and includes a light breakfast and baked potato luncheon.  All interested should go to  https://form.jotform.com/danielleptreadwell/SHSmb to sign up. 

 

The Maine Space Grant Consortium is pleased to announce a paid internship for any Juniors interested in STEM!!!  It is a six-week paid summer internship at various Maine institutions conducting hands-on research and technology development.  If you are interested in applying, please check out the eligibility requirements @  http://www.msgc.org/students/internships/ or contact Jana Hall @ jana.hall@msgc.org  Applications are due by February 13, 2026.

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

 

Magic: The Gathering club will meet Mondays (except the first of the month) in D230 from 2:30- 3:30PM. Bring your cards and prepare to battle.

 

Art Club: Do you need a space to be creative? Look no further than joining Art Club!   Can't commit to a weekly club? No worries! Drop ins always welcome! New this year; Special Art Club Meets: once a month we will host a specialty art activity which will be announced in your daily announcements!  See Ms. Simoneau, in B127 Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30 pm. 

 

Civil Rights Team: Do you believe that school is a place where students should feel safe, welcomed, respected, and celebrated for who they are? The Sanford Civil Rights Team is the club for you! Please join us on Mondays from 2:15-3:15 in the library.  ALL ARE WELCOME!

 

Nature Journal Club in Ms. Strout's room (B249) Thursdays 2:30-3:30

 

Anime club is meeting on Thursdays from 2:30-3:30 in B211.

 

Dungeons and Dragons will meet in the cafeteria on Tuesdays and Fridays directly following school.  All are welcome.

 

The Environmental Club meets on Tuesdays at 2:30pm in Mr. Jeney's room, 2nd Floor Blue last door on the left, E256. New Members Welcome!!

 

Peer Helpers will begin meeting on Fridays in the small cafe beginning at 7:30. Old and new members are welcome. Lunch buddies, student tours, Thanksgiving baskets and much much more. Come be part of a club that helps to make SHS a welcoming place!

 

Key Club meets every Monday night @ 6PM in the agora!  All are welcome.

 

Need community service hours? Interact Club is a great option! Now meeting on Wednesdays at 7:20 AM in B143B. Interact Club offers a variety of volunteering opportunities, scholarships, and is affiliated with the largest humanitarian group in the world: Rotary International. All are welcome!

SCHOOL SUPER SNACK: Sanford School Nutrition is happy to announce that Supper Snacks will be served after the last bell form 2:20 - 2:45. These meals will be served Monday-Thursday when afterschool enrichment activities are offered. These meals are free of charge and we encourage all students to take advantage of this after school program.
