On December 11th and 12th, Sanford Middle School and Sanford High School JMG students had the opportunity to volunteer with Toys for Tots, bringing the spirit of giving to life in our community.
On December 11th, 7th grade JMG students worked alongside Sanford High School JMG students to load in, count, and sort thousands of toys. They organized the donations to help Toys for Tots get ready for distribution, ensuring that local families would have gifts to choose from for their children this holiday season.
On December 12th, 8th grade JMG students helped families shop for toys, providing a welcoming and supportive presence during what can be an emotional experience for many parents.
This meaningful service opportunity allowed our students to make a tangible difference in the lives of their neighbors while gaining valuable perspective on the needs within our community. When reflecting on the experience, students shared heartfelt responses:
"I really love helping people and I hope we can do more of this at school."
"I can't believe how many toys there were. I don't know how they would have done this without our help. I'm glad we were here."
"I feel really good after doing that. Like I made a great choice and really did something important."
We're proud of our JMG students for their dedication to helping others and for representing Sanford schools with such enthusiasm and care. Events like Toys for Tots remind us all of the importance of giving back and supporting one another, especially during the holiday season.
