Four Sanford High School vocalists have earned spots in the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Eastern Division Honors Choirs, a prestigious recognition that places them among the top high school singers in the Northeast.
Jack Van Gieson, Keaghan Gagnon, Ariana Young, and Ava Allen were selected through a highly competitive audition process that draws talented musicians from across the eastern United States. The students will perform at the ACDA Eastern Conference in Providence, Rhode Island, from February 25–28, 2026.
Van Gieson and Gagnon will sing in the SATB (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) Honors Choir, while Young and Allen earned positions in the SSAA (soprano and alto) Honors Choir.
"When I read the email that I got in, I screamed and ran down to show my family!" said Gagnon, a member of the Class of 2027.
"This opportunity is so exciting, and I can't wait to represent Sanford down in Providence," added Allen, also a junior.
The ACDA Eastern Division encompasses states from Maine to Maryland and represents one of the most competitive regions for choral music in the country. Selection to an ACDA Honors Choir is considered among the highest achievements available to high school vocalists.
