Today is the beginning of RED RIBBON week, honoring those individuals who are working to have healthy lives and be drug free. Around the building will be hidden red puzzle pieces. If you pledge to be drug free you write your first name on the puzzle piece and bring it to school counseling to be added to our bulletin board. There will also be red ribbons down in the Agoura to wear this week.
Attention Freshmen class officer candidates. We are reopening elections due to technical difficulties. If you have already done your petitions and slides you are already on the ballot. Anyone else that would like to run for class officer must see Mr. Smith in e150 before the end of the day on Friday October 24th.
The Second Annual High School Youth Summit is taking place on Friday, October 24th at Spring Hill in South Berwick. This year's theme is "Owning Your Wellness." Students will have opportunities to participate in movement activities, hear from financial advisors, fill out a wellness wheel, and set personal goals. Students interested in participating can pick up a permission slip in the school counseling office. There are only 10 spots available so act fast as spots will fill up quickly.
NOTE FROM THE NURSE'S OFFICE: We are putting flu clinic forms in your mailbox. The flu clinic will be held on Thursday, November 6th and will be available to both students and staff. Staff who are interested need to fill out the same forms that are given to students. Please return forms to the nurse's office as soon as they are returned to you and reach out with any questions!
Scholarship Opportunity: Daughters of the American Revolution have announced a scholarship opportunity that could result in up to $10k in scholarship money. Please visit this link for more information. Completed applications for consideration should be turned into Ms. Gibson's office no later than November 3rd to allow adequate time to complete the essay portion of the application.

Are you interested in global issues, journalism, government, or current events? Join Mrs. Jewell in attending the 39th Annual Camden Conference in Camden/Rockland, Feb 20 - 22nd, 2026!! This is a free conference for students that is taking on the topic: Power, Politics, and Players in Today's Middle East. Students interested can get more information from Mrs. Jewell in room B143A or by attending the interest meeting on October 23 at 2:30 pm.

Art Club: Do you need a space to be creative? Look no further than joining Art Club! Can't commit to a weekly club? No worries! Drop ins always welcome! New this year; Special Art Club Meets: once a month we will host a specialty art activity which will be announced in your daily announcements! See Ms. Simoneau, in B127 Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30 pm.
Civil Rights Team: Do you believe that school is a place where students should feel safe, welcomed, respected, and celebrated for who they are? The Sanford Civil Rights Team is the club for you! Please join us on Mondays from 2:15-3:15 in the library. ALL ARE WELCOME!
Nature Journal Club in Ms Strout's room (B249) Thursdays 2:30-3:30
Anime club is meeting on Thursdays from 2:30-3:30 in B211.
Dungeons and Dragons will meet in the cafeteria on Tuesdays and Fridays directly following school. All are welcome.
The Environmental Club meets on Tuesdays at 2:30pm in Mr. Jeney's room, 2nd Floor Blue last door on the left, E256. New Members Welcome!!
Peer Helpers will begin meeting on Fridays in the small cafe beginning at 7:30. Old and new members are welcome. Lunch buddies, student tours, Thanksgiving baskets and much much more. Come be part of a club that helps to make SHS a welcoming place!
Key Club meets every Monday night @ 6PM in the agora! All are welcome.
Need community service hours? Interact Club is a great option! Now meeting on Wednesdays at 7:20 AM in B143B. Interact Club offers a variety of volunteering opportunities, scholarships, and is affiliated with the largest humanitarian group in the world: Rotary International. All are welcome!

GET YOUR HOURS RIGHT HERE ON CAMPUS! This weekend, SHS is hosting the State Marching Band Finals at the Alumni Stadium and really need some people (students and staff) to help out!!! There are lots of opportunities to sign up. The Junior Class will be holding a bottle drive and car wash this Sunday, October 26th, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Gowens Park to help raise funds for upcoming class events and activities. This is a great community service opportunity for all high school students. Please arrive at Gowens Park by 9 AM and have Mr. Mathieu or Nurse Katie sign your community service form at the end of the event!
