WHITE Day

 

 

Do you have a talent you would like to show off? A rare skill you haven't had a chance to make known? Do you and a group of friends have a specialty hobby, such as music, sports tricks, or other?

The NHS group is preparing SHS's 2025 Spartan Showcase, previously known as the Variety Show. Drop-in auditions are after school on Thursday, March 6th, and Thursday, March 13th, until 4 PM in the Agora. Online auditions will also be available through Google Classroom-- code will be provided soon. Prizes will be based on judges' scores and audience-picked favorites!

Email our advisors, Mrs. White (ewhite@sanford.org) and Mrs. English (henglish@sanford.org), or the head of our audition committee Savannah Knight (25savannahk@gapps.sanford.org), if you are interested in being a part of the show!

We are excited to announce a fun opportunity for our Spartan Students. Want to win prizes? If you have Spartan gear, wear it each Friday and check in at the tables during lunch for a chance to win some prizes. Prizes will be drawn monthly, and the more Fridays you wear your gear, the more chances you’ll have to win!  Go Spartans! 

 

NHS is offering FREE tutoring sessions every Thursday from 2:30 - 3:30pm in B-143B. Stop by for a little extra help in a subject area of your choice.  The late bus is available on this day.  

 

The Late Bus will pick students up on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays @ 4:00PM at the flagpole out front.

Spartan Café is back open! Tuesdays and Thursdays during block 4 (for students) 3&4 (for staff) in the life skills suite in the red wing at the top of the agora. The upcoming menu is:

Tuesday: Homeade Cheeseburger Soup w/ Crusty Bread $6

Thursday: Baked Stuffed Potato $4 with choice of: butter, sour cream, chives, broccoli, bacon

Please include time for pick up or delivery and room number.  We also have some Sweets, Nachos and Spartan Splashers as an everyday offering

You must have a current physical on file in order to participate.  If you’re not sure if your physical is current, please check with the athletic office.

Girls Tennis- Monday, March 10 @ 2:30 in B142

 

Boys Tennis- Tuesday, March 4 at 2:30 p.m. in the weight room.

 

Softball sign-up meeting on Tuesday, March 4th at 2:30 in the Partners Bank gym. 

 

Outdoor Track on Wednesday, March 5th during Spartan Time in the Wrestling room.

 

GIRLS LACROSSE INTEREST MEETING: If you are playing lacrosse this spring (or even just considering playing), please attend the interest meeting on Tuesday, March 4 in the Agora during Spartan Time. We will make an announcement and call girls down. Bring a friend!

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

SHS Cadet Program: If you are interesting in being part of the Cadet program please stop by Officer Gosling’s office, E102 for further information. 

Anime club now meets every Thursday right after school until 3:30 in Ms. Silva’s room B212.

Nature Journal Club – Thursdays in Ms. Strout's room B249 (top red) 

The Health and Wellness Club in the gym is now open every day after school except Wednesdays.  All are welcome!

GSTA will be meeting Thursday mornings before school as well as Thursday after school.  Please see Mrs. Stanhope in B237 if interested.

Peer Helpers will meet on Fridays from 7:30-7:45 AM in the small café

Civil Rights Team will meet on Mondays @ 2:25pm in the library.  Please join us to help make the school a place where everyone feels safe, welcome, and respected for who they are!

D&D Club meets on Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30 in E121 (Dr. K’s room) Come join!

SHS Book Club:  Meets every Thursday during Spartan Time.  New members are welcome when we start a new book.

Art Club: Do you need a space to be creative? Look no further than joining Art Club! Can't commit to a weekly club? No worries! Drop ins always welcome! See Ms. Simoneau, B127 Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30.

Environmental Club now meets on Monday’s @ 2:30 in Mr. Jeney’s room, E256 at the end of the hall, 2nd floor Blue wing.

The ASL Club runs every Tuesday from 2:30-3:30 pm after school in room E123A. We hope to see you there!

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

 

Attention Students! Looking for an opportunity to earn community service hours while helping your local newspaper? The Sanford Springvale News is looking for student volunteers with a vehicle and a driver’s license to serve as substitute newspaper delivery drivers.

This role involves delivering newspapers on a specific route on Fridays in the late morning or early afternoon, as needed. It’s a simple 1 to 2-hour commitment on weeks you’re available.

The MCS, SPE, and CJL PTAs are looking for volunteers to help with the Sanford Elementary Teachers vs. First Responders Basketball Game on Thursday, March 13th from 5:30-8:00pm.  If you would like to help with the event, please email us at mcsptame@gmail.com.
