RED Day

 

 

STAFF: York County Audubon is again offering a scholarship for a one-week program for Educators this summer on famed Hog Island off the mid-coast of Maine.  The program is entitled "Sharing Nature: An Educator's Week," and runs from August 10th - 15th.  National Audubon Society has been offering the Educator's Week program each summer since 1936!   Complete information is available through our website at www.yorkcountyaudubon.org/scholarships

SHS Chorus Cabaret-1/31 @ Nasson Little Theatre.  Join us for the SHS Choral Program Cabaret Performance on January 31st at 6:30 pm at the Nasson Community Center in Springvale, Maine. This event will feature a range of musical performances from our talented students. It's a great chance to enjoy live music in a welcoming community atmosphere. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for kids and seniors (60+). Come and support our students while experiencing an evening of wonderful music.

The Finance Authority of Maine (FAME) will be at SHS in the SRTC Career Planning Center on Wednesday, January 15th from 6-7:30 to assist students/families with the FAFSA.  Please note, both student and parent FSA IDs must be completed a week in advance. NHS is offering FREE tutoring sessions every Thursday from 2:30 - 3:30pm in B-143B. Stop by for a little extra help in a subject area of your choice.  The late bus is available on this day.  

A student is doing a hygiene drive for the homeless. She's asking for body wash, shampoo, conditioner, wet wipes, hand sanitizer, and feminine hygiene products. Please put these items in the box outside of the Main Office or contact 26roryw@gapps.sanford.org for more information.

 

The Late Bus will pick students up on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays @ 3:45PM at the flagpole out front.

Spartan Café is back open! Tuesdays and Thursdays during block 4 (for students) 3&4 (for staff) in the life skills suite in the red wing at the top of the agora. The upcoming menu is:

 

Tuesday: 2 Hard Shell Tacos w/ rice $6 with choice of: lettuce, tomato, cheese, onion, salsa, sour cream.

Thursday: Salad with hearty, crusty bread $6 with choice of: Crispy Chicken, bacon, tomato, shredded cheese, carrot, cucumber, onion.  Ranch or Caesar Dressing

 

Please include time for pick up or delivery and room number.  We also have some Sweets, Nachos and Spartan Splashers as an everyday offering

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

Anime club now meets every Thursday right after school until 3:30 in Ms. Silva’s room B212.

Nature Journal Club – Thursdays in Ms. Strout's room B249 (top red) 

The Health and Wellness Club in the gym is now open every day after school except Wednesdays.  All are welcome!

GSTA will be meeting Thursday mornings before school as well as Thursday after school.  Please see Mrs. Stanhope in B237 if interested.

Science bowl - The 2025 Science bowl is going to be held in person at USM in February.  We would love to have 2 complete teams.  We will meet during ST on Thursdays so have your homeroom teacher schedule you to Ms. English.  

Peer Helpers will meet on Fridays from 7:30-7:45 AM in the small café

Civil Rights Team will meet on Mondays @ 2:25pm in the library.  Please join us to help make the school a place where everyone feels safe, welcome, and respected for who they are!

D&D Club meets on Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30 in E121 (Dr. K’s room) Come join!

SHS Book Club:  Meets every Thursday during Spartan Time.  New members are welcome when we start a new book.  We are halfway through The Children of Blood and Bone, and will start a new book after our Holiday break

Art Club: Do you need a space to be creative? Look no further than joining Art Club! Can't commit to a weekly club? No worries! Drop ins always welcome! See Ms. Simoneau, B127 Tuesdays from 2:30-3:30.

Environmental Club now meets on Monday’s @ 2:30 in Mr. Jeney’s room, E256 at the end of the hall, 2nd floor Blue wing.

The ASL Club runs every Tuesday from 2:30-3:30 pm after school in room E123A. We hope to see you there!

The MCS PTA is in need of volunteers for the Valentine's Dance at MCS on Friday, February 7th from 4:30-8:30pm.  If you are interested in helping out, please email us at mcsptame@gmail.com.

Community Service Opportunity open to any student - SkillsUSA at SRTC is looking for assistance to go to the SRTC classrooms and collect returnable bottles once or twice a week from 7-8am or within the 10-11am hour. This is an ongoing weekly opportunity. Please see Mr Bolduc in the yellow wing C134
