Sanford High School's math team is off to a strong start to the 2023-2024 season.

The team's journey consists of five regional meets, culminating in the state championship in Augusta. 

Having clinched victory in two regional meets, Sanford is currently ranked 30th out of 120 participating schools in Maine. Meets consist of the same math questions given at the same time all over the state.

Under Adam Soule's and Kailee Colbeth's guidance, the math team diligently honed their skills during practices held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. 

Soule mentioned that every participating student has contributed by scoring points and performing admirably. Soule said every student who has participated has scored points and done well. 

Students on the team include Lamar Amoakohene, Michael Cousineau, Fineus Daly, Jennifer Danis, Ethan Davie, Samone Gallagher, Aidan Gendrom, Elsie Gendron, Keira Kilkenny, Quang Lam, Zach Parison, Owen Treadwell, Corinna Vitale, Greg Waterman, and Rowan Winchell.

Looking ahead, Sanford's math team is gearing up for their upcoming meet scheduled for January 24th, with the final regional meet set for March 6th. 

The pinnacle of their season, the state championship, is slated for April 2nd at the Augusta Civic Center, where the team aims to showcase their exceptional abilities and vie for top honors.
