Challenge Day took place at Sanford High School and Middle School this week, reaching the entire 7th grade for a full day and an assembly at SHS.
Challenge Day is typically a day-long interactive workshop where teens, teachers, and
community members experience for themselves that compassion and connection are indeed possible in our schools. The goal of Challenge Day is to build community and to help stop teasing, violence, and alienation.
Students and adults often leave Challenge Day inspired and empowered. This year's event was a huge success thanks to the efforts of approximately 56 volunteers, including staff members, school committee representatives, PTA members, community organizations, and local businesses.
We are grateful to our sponsor, The Gerard and Gertrude Genest Charitable Trust, whose generous support made Challenge Day possible. Their commitment to empowering our students and fostering a positive school environment is commendable.
Additionally, we extend our appreciation to our Diamond Sponsors, Kennebunk Savings, and MaineHealth, for their contribution to this event. Their support enabled us to provide snacks to the participants and ensured that the day was filled with positive energy.
