The Sanford School Department recognizes that attendance is essential to academic success.

Students should miss at most nine school days each year to stay engaged, successful, and on track to graduate.

By 9th grade, attendance predicts graduation rates better than 8th grade test scores.

It’s essential to check your child’s attendance to be sure absences aren’t adding up.

You can also help improve your child’s attendance by discussing the importance of attending school daily, helping them maintain daily routines, such as finishing homework and getting a good night’s sleep, and scheduling dental and medical appointments when school isn’t in session.
