Officer Michael "Tipper" Thornton who has served the Sanford School Department for many years as a school resource officer and instructor of the Law Enforcement program at the Sanford Regional Technical Center officially retired today from the Sanford Police Department after 35 years of service. In a ceremony at the police department today, Officer Thornton officially went 10–7 for the last time as a member of the department. 10–7 is a police code for being out of service or off duty. We appreciate all that he has done for us over the years and look forward to continuing to see him on a daily basis as the instructor of the SRTC Law Enforcement program. Congratulations Tipper!
