Khloe Pivin and Addison Legnard are two CJL fourth graders who felt like they needed to get creative to reach out to friends at school; to spread some kindness during a very unusual school year. These students noticed that Covid-19 was putting restrictions on how we normally show kindness, so they wrote to Mrs. Baron to propose a Kindness Club for Carl J. Lamb School. What better way to problem solve than to get together with your friends and get creative? Students and teachers now meet weekly on Wednesdays through a Zoom call to share ideas for how to spread kindness around our school and in our community.

One of the first activities suggested by our school's social worker, Miss Garabedian, was to spread some cheer to the elderly who may have missed visits from family by becoming penpals. Students could sign up for a penpal from Mountain View Community in Ossippee, New Hampshire. Several students have already written letters and felt the thrill of receiving their first reply!

Students have also made posters, helped to coordinate our school's Kindness Week and in March, the Kindness Club will focus on celebrating the courage to make a difference. All students and teachers are welcome to join. Meetings are on Wednesdays via a zoom call at 9:30, teachers can share the link!
