Sanford Middle School hosted its Step-Up Day for 4th-grade students from Sanford Pride and Carl J. Lamb elementary schools Monday Morning.

The Step-Up Day provides the incoming 5th-grade students a chance to see the school they will attend in the fall.

Student leaders from the middle school provided tours for the students, showing them around the school and providing valuable information about what to expect when they begin middle school in the fall.

Assistant Principal Joe Mastraccio kicked off each tour with a presentation on what students can expect when they arrive at the school. He discussed the different clubs and extracurriculars that students can participate in.

The student leaders then took over, leading the 4th graders on school tours and showing them all the essential areas they need to know when they begin middle school. This included a tour of the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade wings and visits to the library, the greenhouse, and other key areas.

The Step-Up Day was a great success, with many of the incoming 4th graders expressing excitement and enthusiasm about starting at Sanford Middle School in the fall. The student leaders did a great job of keeping the groups organized and completing the tours on time for the elementary schools to coordinate their visits.

Margaret Chase Smith School has their Step-Up Day at the middle school on Tuesday.
