New iPads for K-2 students

December 1, 2020

Dear Parent/Guardian,

This letter is to inform you that all students in grades K, 1 and 2 will be issued a brand new iPad for use at school and at home for remote learning.  These new iPads will be delivered to each student on Thursday and Friday of this week.  Students will be required to return their current iPad before they will be issued a new device.  If your child will not be in school either of these days, we will save their device until they return.  Each iPad will include a protective case that is to remain on the device at all times, please do not tamper or replace the case.  The chargers will remain the same and should stay at home for remote learning days.

A number of safeguards and security measures have been installed on the iPads to block inappropriate content and all apps have been directly approved by the district prior to installation.  We remind you at this time that many educational resources and classroom tools will be accessible via the web.  Students and families are discouraged from using these devices for personal use since they are property of the Sanford School Department and intended for educational purposes only.  We also ask that you please keep food and beverages away from the device to reduce damage.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school at 324-7586.

Chuck Potter, Principal
