Mr. Thom Gagne, aka. Butterfly Guy,visited Margaret Chase Smith school's second graders to talk about monarch butterflies.He talked to the students about how important milkweed is for the monarch butterflies. Mr. Gagne encouraged our students to plant milkweed, not cut the milkweed plants down, and to plant lots of flower to attract the butterflies to them.Our second graders restudying plant life in science and they are learning the importance plants are to our ecosystem. Mr. Gagne also showed the migration path of the monarch butterflies and how to keep track of them on certain websites. The students were excited to learn more about how monarch butterflies are important to our environment.
