Sanford High School is now accepting nominations for its inaugural Hall of Honor class. The nomination deadline is March 1st.

The purpose of the Sanford High School Athletics Hall of Honor is:

1. To recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of outstanding student-athletes,

   coaches, teams, administrators, and SHS Athletics supporters.

2. To reconnect those individuals and their families with the Sanford Public Schools.

3. To enhance the current student-athlete understanding and pride in the history of SHS

   athletics.

Criteria for Nomination and Induction

Criteria for Athletes:

• Candidate must have graduated from SHS and at least 5 years have passed

  since graduation.

• Candidate must have competed in at least one varsity sport and must have

  demonstrated superior performance while at SHS.

• A recipient may not be a current coach or member of the Hall of Honor selection committee.

Criteria for Special Contributors:

• Special contributors who have contributed greatly to SHS athletics such as coaches, administrators, volunteers, or others will also be considered for induction. Such a candidate does not have to be a graduate of SHS.

Criteria for Teams:

• Teams who have performed exceptionally during a single season will be

  considered for induction. A team award will be considered as one award. Teams must have won a state, or regional championship or achieved in other ways under uncommon adversity to be considered.

Criteria for Coaches

• A coach must have served as a Varsity High School Coach in Sanford and is currently retired
