Happy Thanksgiving

Weekly Update

Wishing Everyone a Happy Thanksgiving:

With such an unusual year and daily concerns around staying healthy, I just wanted to share that we still have much to be thankful for. Whether it be the promising news of a potential vaccine for COVID-19 or the kind and generous gift from Curtis Lake Church, or the daily demonstration of kindness by our students and staff. I am wishing all of you a Happy Thanksgiving.

Parent/Teacher Conferences:

We want to thank all the parents who logged in for a conference with their child(ren)’s teachers. At first glance it looks like participation via virtual was comparable to in-person conferences. Just a reminder that our first trimester grading period ends this Friday December 4th.

Kindness from Curtis Lake Church:

The congregation from Curtis Lake Church delivered to each elementary classroom teacher an Amazon gift card to purchase items for their classrooms. The church heard that with the COVID-19 restrictions that were imposed this summer, many classrooms do not have the resources for students to have individual items or classroom equipment for recess. The generosity shown by the Curtis Lake Church’s congregation will go a long-ways to fill our needs. Also donated was an Amazon gift card for our special education teachers to share. Thank You, Curtis Lake Church!

December is Empathy Month:

The focus for the month of December is Empathy. Just as we did for Kindness Month, students will have the chance to see videos about Empathy, receive challenges and hear daily quotes.

#Grinch For Good Campaign

This holiday season MCS is participating in the Grinch For Good Campaign. We are challenged with collecting cans and non-perishable items for our local food pantry and student backpack program. By giving back to our community, we hope to grow our hearts three sizes bigger, just like the Grinch! Please send in your items by December 18th. Wear green or dress up like your favorite Grinch character as well on Monday & Tuesday, December 21st and 22nd to show your support!

Things are about to get "Ugly":

Every Friday at MCS for the month of December, the staff are asking the students for help as they judge our 2020 Ugly Sweater Contest. Throughout the month we will post pics of various staff members wearing their favorite Holiday sweater. On December 21st and December 22nd, students will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite sweater and choose our champion. Does

your student have a favorite holiday sweater or sweatshirt? Feel free to join in on the fun! ~ Mrs. Hallissey

Have a great week!
