seniors

To the Senior Athletes of Sanford High:

The loss of your spring senior season has undoubtedly brought some amount of sadness and tears. Please do not let these feelings consume you. Remember all the little things that happened over the past four years, those are the defining moments that make up your athletic journey. They may have seemed inconsequential at the time, but those memories will be what you’ll carry with you as you leave SHS.

Remember your teammates. The way you joked in the locker rooms, laughed on long bus rides, celebrated after big wins, and rallied after even bigger losses. Remember the good days and the challenging. Remember how your team picked you up on the toughest of days and helped you see the good in all things.

Remember your coaches. The times they pushed you to do and be more, the times they depended on you to be leaders. But most importantly remember the opportunity they provided you to play a game you enjoyed. The game that taught you lessons about life, dedication, teamwork, and so much more.

I hope you can reflect on the impact you’ve had on your teammates and your coaches’ lives. The time you spent dedicated to your sport was never a waste because you are a better person for it.

These times we are in are challenging, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Remember your dedication to your team, sport, and school and push through the challenges ahead.

Leave knowing you are all special to me and our Athletic Program.

You will always be a Spartan.

One last thing: “Be motivated by your accomplishments and never let the thought of failure be your destiny”.

Yours in Sport,

Mr. Salls
