This afternoon in Partner's Bank Gymnasium our Unified Basketball team played the Wells Warriors.  The Spartans came out on top 48-42 for their first ever win in Unified Sports.  For those of you who do not know about Unified Basketball, this is a program through Special Olympics which matches able and disabled high school students on a team together to compete in a real basketball game against an area high school.  Our students had a great send off as SHS/SRTC students lined the hallways as our team walked down to the competition gymnasium for their game.  The video of their walkthrough can be found here:  https://www.facebook.com/sanfo...

Rhett Steinmann scored the first basket for the Spartans.  Leading the scoring for Sanford were Joe Mason with 14 points and Ashnell Stamp with 12 points.  Other scorers were Riley Cobbett, Earl Cormier, Matthew Murray, Dillion Stolzenburger, Eric Ames, and Austin Main.  Heather Hennessey lead the scoring for Wells with 12 points.  The next Unified Basketball game is at South Portland on February 4th at 3:45pm.  Hope to see you there!
