SHS Daily Announcements 01/09/20   Red Day 

 

 

February is Black History Month and the Civil Rights Team is looking for anyone interested in helping plan and carry out multiple projects. The more people we have, the more we can do to honor African American heritage. Our next meeting is Monday after school in Mrs. Whitney’s room on the second floor of the red wing, room B235.

SHS Theater Club announces Auditions for the spring musical.  Auditions will be held Thursday January 23, from 12:00-2:00 in the SPAC. Audition forms are available from Mrs Baker in C-124 or on the counter in the Arts & Communications Pathway Library. Not into acting but interested in working backstage or on a tech crew?  We Need You Too!!!!  No auditions necessary.

Girls Go Cyber Security Challenge is starting soon.  To join stop by room A127 or email acole@sanford.org  Earn scholarship money for college and prize money for yourself!

Changes in the cafeteria.  One ounce Ranch cups will be available at all registers upon request at time of purchase.  One per person and each additional one ounce Ranch cup will be 50 cents.  All other condiments will be placed on the condiment table as usual.  Please do not remove condiments from the table.

The SHS Music Boosters are selling raffle calendars for the month of January. Every entry will be entered into a drawing every day throughout the month of February. We have almost $2,000 available in prizes! Even after a ticket wins it will be re-entered for the rest of the month! Calendars are $10 a piece or 3 for $20, if interested please contact a music student or Mrs. Scarano. 

 

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

Cheering will be attending the regionals at the Augusta Civic Center on Saturday January 25th.  Competition starts at 5 p.m. Sanford is scheduled to perform at 5:30 p.m.

 

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

 

Art Club is in B127 every Thursday until 3:30.

 

Key Club will meet every Monday night @ 6:30.

Tranquil Tuesdays are back during Spartan Time.  Sign up for the library on Tuesdays to read.  No school work or computers, just you and a book. Mrs. Raymond is passionate about reading.  She will kick you out of the library if you are not reading during this time :)

Hey epic gamers, the Video Game Club is now meeting every Tuesday after school from 2:30-3:30.

The Civil Rights Team will meet on Mondays at 2:20 in room B235

The Environmental Club will be meeting on Tuesday mornings at 7:20 in Ms. Wests Room in the Blue wing E222.  Join us to decide what projects we will work on this year...will it be to bring back recycling to the High School or make the cafeteria green.

Peer Helpers will be meeting every FRIDAY in the small cafe beginning at 7:20 (or whenever you can arrive). Help give student tours, Thanksgiving baskets, lunch buddies, Special buddies and much much more! Grades 8-12 are welcome.

Sanford High School and Sanford Regional Technical Center support the FOOD BACKPACK PROGRAM. Students receive backpacks full of non-perishable food weekly to take home. We really need backpacks to make this program happen. Please donate NEW or USED backpacks.  Also, if you would like to know more about these resources please see your School Counselor.

Community Service Opportunities

 

There is an after school program that runs at Carl J Lamb school on Tuesdays from 3-4:30 and they are looking for students to help with the activities.  If interested, please see Mrs. Bourque in A241.

 

The SHS swim team is looking for students to volunteer at the home meets at the YMCA with concessions and time keeping. Get 2 hours at each meet!

For Spoiled Pets is a non-profit organization located in Lebanon which takes in rescued animals.  If anyone is interested in volunteering to get hours they can email Renee @ forspoiledpets@gmail.com

 

Curtis Lake Church Soup Kitchen needs help every Wednesday and Thursday from 5:30 on setting tables, serving meals and cleaning up. See Mrs. Pattershall in Room A237 if interested. Serve once, or as often as you need/want.
