The US Government has been in the practice of separating families since the 19th century, when they forced many Native American children into foster care.  As recent as the 1970's, 1 in 4 Native children were in foster care or adoptive white homes, denying them their Native traditions.  Dawnland is a film that follows some of those children that were separated, and documents the recent work that Mainers are doing to reconcile and heal those affected. Join the Civil Rights Team and SLAM for a viewing of this film Thursday, October 21st at 2:30, in the agora.

Art Club November: This month we will be learning about embroidery and looking to several contemporary embroidery artists for inspiration. You can embroider on a hoop or bring in an item of clothing you want to add to. No experience is necessary!

Jostens will be collecting graduation and cap and gown orders on Tuesday, Nov. 19 during all lunches near the cafeteria.  Extra order packets are available in the Assistant Principals office.

Are you interested in going to college? Want to visit colleges, learn about careers, and try activities like zip lining and kayaking? If so, Upward Bound might be a great fit for you! During our summer program students prep for college with courses, college planning, electives, and field trips during 1-5 week-long programs at USM. Interested in joining? Applications are due November 15. Request more info in the school counseling office and/or click here to watch a short video about the program: https://spark.adobe.com/video/q4BIWUnSAmeAl
