SHS Daily Announcements 10/24/2019   Red Day

Powder Puff Event: Sunday, October 27th.  Gates open at 12 and the event starts at 1pm.  This is to support Project Graduation 2020.  Jr/Sr Girls compete in football and the Jr/Sr Boys cheer.

The Civil Rights Team needs your help on our day of welcome, Friday, October 25.  The day of welcome is simply a way to show that, in our school, we recognize and support all students, diverse in race and skin color, national origin and ancestry, religion, disabilities, gender (including gender identity and expression), and sexual preference. You can show your support by wearing red and white, purchasing a "ally" bracelet (lovingly handmade by our Civil Rights Team members), and filling out a "Just Because" poem.  A "Just Because" poem is an opportunity to speak about your experiences with stereotypes.  You can pick up a template in the library.  We are hoping to get a lot of poems, so that we can display them around the school.  This is a great opportunity to continue the work we did in our Challenge Day

You and your parents will receive FREE assistance completing and filing the FAFSA when you attend the In-person help Session at SHS on October 29 from 5:30 on in room A-231. The FAFSA is the first step to applying for federal financial aid, and is required for students who plan to pay for college with the help of federal, state, or institutional aid such as grants, scholarships, work study and loans. Don’t forget, seniors must file a FAFSA to be considered for a $1,500 Maine State Grant.  FREE Pizza until it runs out!

Are you interested in going to college? Want to visit colleges, learn about careers, and try activities like ziplining and kayaking? If so, Upward Bound might be a great fit for you!
