Sanford High School

ATTENTION JUNIORS:  The Sanford School Committee is accepting applications for student representatives for this year.  The successful candidate will attend School Committee meetings and be involved in discussions involving the policies and procedures for the entire district.  Interested Juniors can pick up an application at the Assistant Principals Office.  It must be returned no later than Monday, October 21.

InkTober is a month long drawing challenge happening this month. There are daily drawing prompts and drawings are to be completed in ink (sharpie, pen or India ink). During Spartan time on October 31st, artists can come and show off their month of drawings and celebrate their work. Please see Mrs. Gillis in room B127 soon for details or look for posters in the halls. Don’t worry if you miss a few days, we still want to see your drawings! https://inktober.com/rules 

SLAM (Spartan Library Advisory Members) will meet every other Thursday, during Spartan Time.  Our first meeting will be on October 10. If you are interested in joining, please get and fill out a brief application by October 4th.  Applications are available in the library. Members plan and implement activities such as poetry workshops and slams, assist with collection development, promote books and reading, and bring new ideas to the library.

UNH College Fair - >span class="contextualextensionhighlight">will be a field trip to the UNH College Fair at UNH in Durham, NH, on Tuesday, October 8 from 8:30-11:30.  This is a great opportunity to visit with admission reps from over 100 local and regional colleges, universities and trade schools. The trip is open to juniors and seniors on a first-come, first-serve basis. Cost for the trip is $5.00 per student. Sign up and permission slips are available in the School Counseling Office now!

Thomas College will hold its Future Teachers Academy on November 8.  It is a free opportunity for high school students interested in becoming educators.  It is a wonderful career development/exploration opportunity for students.  It is up on Facebook and social media.  An email went out to over 400 students today.  Below is the description.  Also, here is a hyperlink to the same thing: https://www.thomas.edu/TC/FTA-19.html.

Sign up for the library during ST on Friday, October 4th. This is a repeat of last week's presentation because freshmen and sophomores were unable to attend. The library, itself, will be closed during this time, so only sign up for the library if you want to attend the event in the agora. 

Tranquil Tuesdays are back during Spartan Time.  Sign up for the library on Tuesdays to read.  No school work or computers, just you and a book. Mrs. Raymond is passionate about reading.  She will kick you out of the library if you are not reading during this time :)

Attention Seniors, please remember that your Senior Photos are due in October and your Senior Information sheets are due in November. If you do not have the paper for those, they can be picked up from the door of D113.
