Sanford's Kiwanis Club sponsors an annual essay contest where Sanford's third graders write about what the qualities are to be a Terrific Kid. Every third grader's essay explains how our core values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Courage and Compassion are the same values a Terrific Kid demonstrates or how he/she demonstrates these values. Then the essay winner, his/her parents and teacher from each school are invited to a luncheon hosted by the Sanford Kiwanis. At the luncheon each essay winner read his/her essay to the Kiwanis Club members. Margaret Chase Smith's essay winner is Drew Vessel. The picture above is of Drew and his teacher Mrs. Daly.
