SHS Daily Announcements 05/22/2019   Red Day/ Working Day

 

Attention class of 2021:  We will be holding a meeting this Thursday in room B244 during Spartan time to discuss the prom next year.  If you are interested in joining be sure to sign up for Mr. Russell’s Spartan time on 5/23!

 

Spring Carnival Week! Spirit Days: Monday - Mismatched Monday Tuesday - Twin Tuesday Wednesday - Working Wednesday (dress for future career/pathway) Thursday - Throwback Thursday Friday - Red and White

 

The senior permanent art collection will exhibit one selected piece of artwork by a graduating senior to represent the artistic talent of Sanford High School. The selected work will be formatted with a plaque and revealed on Senior Awards Night. This collection will serve as a continuous timeline of high quality work from Sanford High School seniors.

 

Requirements:

  • Every senior may turn in two works of art.
  • Work may be two or three dimensional.
  • Work must be final pieces- no sketchbook work.
  • Neat and professionally presented.
  • It is suggested that the works of art are recent and created during your Junior or Senior year.
    • Works of art must be turned in no later than 2:30 on Friday May 24th to Ms. Dietsch- Room B127.

Senior Chromebook Turn in is Monday June 3rd.  Freshmen, Sophomore, and Junior Chromebook Turn in is Monday June 10th.  Bring your fully charged Chromebook and the charger for turn in or you will be charged for missing items.  Be sure to take ALL stickers off the device.

Any student that wants to turn their school Chromebook in before their turn in date may do so at the Tech Hub.

Tooth Protectors will be here 5/23 and 5/24. Paperwork can be picked up in the Nurse’s office. 

The Environmental Club is collecting gently used sneakers to repurpose them in impoverished areas around the world.  Clean your closets and bring in any shoes you no longer wear,

Collection bin will be in the main office, Ms. West’s room E222, Mrs. Marass’s room D233, and Ms. English’s room C114. We will be collecting through the month of May.

 

Sanford Environmental Club is Reforesting Sanford on Thursday, May 23rd after school at 3 o’clock! For every Christmas ornament made of fallen wood that we sold, we will be planting a tree at our new High School campus! Please join us and get community service hours by helping plant the trees! Even if you are not going to participate in the planting, please come show support by attending and visiting the booths and products of Sanford’s local farms that will be there. Our goal is to have a plaque made in honor of everyone who purchased ornaments for the trees to be planted, and placed in the area of the trees!

Please return your overdue library books ASAP, or you will need to pay for the replacement fee.  Mrs. Raymond is still exchanging overdue books for candy (while supplies last).

The local 4H club in Shapleigh is selling Raffle Calendars to raise money to send 4 teen members of the Four Leaf Clover Club to a Citizenship Washington Focus trip.  They are $10 and will be drawn the month June.   If interested please contact Pat Adams @ padams@sanford.org 

 

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

GIRLS SOCCER MEETING June 4th at 2:30 in the Health room (F121). Sign up information for Summer Soccer and expectations for the 2019 season will be handed out. If you are unable to make it, please see Coach Agreste for details.

On Friday May 24th, all girl basketball players and those interested in playing will meet in the competition gym for brief meeting to go over summer basketball.  If you have any questions, please contact Coach Kearson.

CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS

 

The next Civil Rights Team meeting will be held Tuesday, May 28th, after school in room B235.

 

GSTA meets Thursdays after school in room B237.

Future Educators Association (FEA) meets after school the second Tuesday of every month in B245.  Come learn about careers in education and what it takes to make a difference.  New members are always welcome.

Health and wellness club meets daily after school in the fitness room!  All students and staff are welcome!  Need a fitness plan?  Get down here!  See Coach Way with Q s.

 

 Anime Club meets now on Fridays 2-3:30 in Room B243.

 

Key club is at 6:30 every Monday in the Sanford high school cafeteria. 

 

Chess and cribbage will be held every Tuesday in room D228 from 2:20 to 3:30. All are welcome.

 

Art Club will be held every Thursday from 2:20 to 3:30 in Room B127.

 

SHS Peer Helper meetings are Tuesday at 7:20 in the small cafeteria (if you bus/ride get you here later than that please join us when you arrive). Help continue the positive school culture at SHS by being part of a variety of events...#justakidfromsanford, student tours, Thanksgiving baskets and much much more.

SLAM (Spartan library advisory meetings)- Create the library program that you want! Meets Thursdays during ST.  If interested in joining, come see Mrs. Raymond in the library.

Sanford High School and Sanford Regional Technical Center support the FOOD BACKPACK PROGRAM. Students receive backpacks full of non-perishable food weekly to take home. We really need backpacks to make this program happen. Please donate NEW or USED backpacks.  Also, if you would like to know more about these resources please see your School Counselor.

Community Service Opportunities

 

SkillsUSA needs volunteers to assist at Sanford Mainers baseball games at Goodall Park for the food truck. See Mr Bolduc C-134 if interested.

 

There is an elderly lady in the community that is looking for anyone who needs community service hours to clean up her lawn.  If interested, please see Mrs. Pattershall in room A237

 

Animal Welfare Society is looking for students who would like to schedule various days after school or on the weekends to volunteer with projects around the animals. If interested, please contact Rachel Levasseur @ 985-3244 ext. 121

 

Smitty’s Cinema is holding a Father’s Day Car Party on June 16th and they are looking for volunteers to help out between 7am and 4pm.  If interested, please contact Courtney Taylor @ 207-283-4500.
