Willard 5th Graders Support The Military
By Danielle Weston
This year, the Willard School 5th graders have really shown their support for the men and women who protect our citizens.  As a group, we felt it was very important for our students to show appreciation for the people that do so much for us and our country.  In November, the 7 classes made “Thank You” cards, and posted them on the doors and windows of the local veterans’ associations.  In January, they learned how to make quick release paracord survival bracelets, which got mailed over to deployed soldiers by a non-profit group called Operation Gratitude.  This spring, some of the 5th graders wrote letters to local businesses for donations to the Fallen Veteran Project.  They have helped raise almost $1000 so far!  We are very proud of our students!!
