The Sanford School Department serves nearly 4000 students from kindergarten through high school and provide adult education programs for 1500 additional citizens. The Sanford School
Department is governed by a five member elected school committee and is managed by an administrative team comprised of the Superintendent of Schools, Business Administrator, Curriculum Director, Director of Special Education, principals, and the Director of the Sanford Regional Vocational Center. The K-6 educational program
is housed in five schools. Students in grades 7 and 8 attend Sanford Junior High School. The secondary program of studies is located at Sanford High School and the adjacent Sanford Regional Vocational Center. In addition, an alternative school is available to students in grades 9-12. Administration Office and classrooms is located at Lincoln School in Springvale. The school system employs over 300 teachers. Additional professional staff includes guidance counselors, computer specialists, librarians, social workers and nurses.
